The GTA Jewish Security Network (“JSN”, “we,” “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy (this “Policy”) describes the types of information we may collect from or about you when you visit our website at https://www.jsntor.ca (the “Website”); use our services, including (but not limited to) our online incident report form, to report a hate incident or crime (the “Services”), or otherwise when you contact or communicate with us. This Policy also describes our practices for collecting, using, storing, disclosing, and retaining that information.

Please read this Policy carefully. If you do not understand or agree with our practices as described in this Policy, please contact us using the information in Section 16 (Contact Us), below.

BY ACCESSING OR USING OUR WEBSITE OR SERVICES, YOU CONSENT TO THE COLLECTION, USE, STORAGE, DISCLOSURE, AND RETENTION OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION BY JSN IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS POLICY.  IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS PRIVACY POLICY, YOU SHOULD NOT ACCESS OR USE THE WEBSITE OR SERVICES.

In this Policy, “personal information” means information about an identifiable individual, as further defined under applicable Canadian privacy laws.

The purpose of this Policy is to inform you of our privacy practices and policies, including:

  • how long we keep your personal information;

We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for the purpose of providing our Services to you. We may collect, use, store, and transfer the following categories of information:

  • Contact information and incident information, when you submit an incident report form through our Website, such as first name, last name, e-mail address, phone number, incident details (including timing, address, location, type of incident, etc.);
  • Communication information such as conversation records when you call or e-mail us;
  • Device information and usage data from automated data collection technologies, such as IP address, metadata, performance metrics, usage trends or volume, and website visits and interactions through our Services. 5. Purposes and Uses of Your Personal Information

We use information that we collect about you or that you provide to us, including any personal information, for the following purposes:

  • To provide, operate, and administer our Services, and identify emerging threats and trends impacting community safety;
  • As permitted by, and to comply with, applicable laws and regulations;
  • To verify your identity and confirm the accuracy of your information;
  • To provide you with information that you request from us;
  • To send you marketing or promotional information;
  • In any other way we may describe when you provide the information; and
  • For any other purpose with your consent.


Marketing Preferences

If you have provided us with your contact information, we may, subject to any applicable anti-spam laws or regulations, contact you via e-mail, postal mail, text message, or telephone about our services, events, and other information that may be of interest to you. E-mail communications you receive from us will generally provide an unsubscribe link allowing you to opt-out of receiving future e-mail or to change your contact preferences, and may also include a link to directly update and manage your marketing preferences.

Please note that even if you opt-out of receiving marketing emails, we may still send you important communications related to your use of our Website or Services.

Please note that when requesting access to your personal information, we may ask for proof of identity and sufficient information about your interaction with us so that we can locate any relevant data. We safeguard your personal information collected in accordance with this Policy with appropriate industry-standard physical, organizational, and technological safeguards. However, while we take steps to safeguard your personal information, there is no way to guarantee that your information will be 100% secure. As no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, we cannot ensure, warrant, or guarantee the absolute security of your personal information. By using our Website or Services, you agree that you are transmitting personal information at your own risk. We are not responsible for the circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Website or Services.

12.  Storage and Processing of Your Personal Information

We currently store and process your personal information and other content you provide to us on servers located in Ontario, Canada. Our servers follow industry standards pertaining to security.

In some circumstances, your personal information may be stored on third-party servers located in the United States of America. To the extent that any personal information is provided to our third party service providers, we require that our service providers are bound by obligations consistent with this Policy and that they only collect, use, or disclose your personal information for the purpose of providing their services to us and or as required by applicable law. Please note that the government, courts, law enforcement, security, or regulatory agencies of the United States of America may be able to obtain access to or disclosure of personal information, as permitted by the laws of the United States of America.

By using our Services or otherwise providing us with personal information, you agree to the transferring of your personal information in accordance with this Policy and applicable data protection laws and regulations.

12. Retention of Your Personal Information

We retain personal information for only as long as necessary to provide the Services, fulfill the purpose for which your information was collected, or for other business purposes (such as complying with our legal obligations, resolving disputes, and enforcing our agreements). 13. We Do Not Knowingly Collect Personal Information from Minors

We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors under 18 through the Website, Services, or by other means. If you are under 18, you may use our Services only with the consent or authorization of your parent or guardian.

If you are under 18, PLEASE DO NOT provide any PERSONAL information to us THROUGH OUR Website, SERVICES, OR OTHERWISE without parental or guardian consent.

If we learn we have collected or received personal information from a minor under 18, without verification of parental or guardian consent, we will delete that information from our records in accordance with applicable laws.

JSN reserves the right to amend this Policy at any time. We will notify you of any amendments to this Privacy Policy by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this Privacy Policy. If you are a user of our Services, you are responsible for ensuring that we have an up-to-date, active, and deliverable e-mail address for you. Otherwise, you are responsible for periodically visiting this Policy to check for any changes.

Subject to applicable laws, your continued use of the Website or Services after we make changes constitutes acceptance of those changes. If you do not agree with changes made to this Policy, you should stop using our Website and Services.
